| Description | On the basis of changes of the stylization of the science popularization magazine for youth ABC, the contribution shows how the stability in its structure and way of expression has transformed to the present-day fragmentedness of content and form. As regards its topics, it is undoubtedly a reflection of the changed social-economic situation in the Czech Republic (besides the changes in knowledge in the past 25 years). However, in recent volumes the structure itself has been marked mainly by the way of spending free time of the potential readers: the subject matter of the issues has shifted from the support of collective activities to individual activities, and various trendy means of strengthening the contact with readers have been chosen (addressing the readers; non-standard language, especially vocabulary; pages dedicated to entertainment). The text has also been adapted for the readers’ comfort; it is fragmented to short paragraphs with dominant pictures. The formation of the present-day magazine has been considerably influenced by commerce, which has virtually destroyed its systematic science popularization element. |
