Description | The lecture offers a different perspective on the origin of the idea of scientific progress than previous research which looked for its foundations in the fields of religion, culture, technology and the economy. The idea of scientific progress can be seen as rooted in scientific practice itself, provided we approach this concept as a specific type of epistemology, integrating time as a requisite to the process of acquiring knowledge. I want to present the birth of this epistemology in the natural philosophy of 17th century. |
