| Description | The purpose of the laws regulating the insult of the majesty (treason) in the period of the Roman Republic is primarily to protect the Republican establishment (the ban of restoring the kingdom regnum affectare). With the political development of the Roman Republic, the subject matter of insulting the majesty has gained an apparent political accent. The study focuses on the analysis of the law de maiestate in the transition period between the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Principate. |
