Description Authors give the review of development and actual situation in tuberculosis in Czech Republic. The stratification of notified cases into respiratory tract tuberculosis – more than 80% of cases - and other localizations. Attention is devoted to tuberculosis appearance in homeless and immigrant population – the absolute number is stable, but the overall incidence decreases. The same situation can be seen as for tuberculosis and non-tuberculosis mycobacteria – the current rate is 4 to 1. Surprising is the fact, that more than 80% of cases are diagnosed passively, it means according to patient´s difficulties. Active screening discovered less than 10% of cases only. Because of risk factors cummulation there is significantly higher tuberculosis incidence in population above 75 years. Moreover treatment of numerous concomitant diseases in elderly increases the risk of drug interactions and unwanted side effects appearance. There are multiple measures to consider for tuberculosis prevention in elderly.
