Description | Part of the Norman conquest of the south of Italy was also the conquest of Sicily. This operation started in 1061, and lasted until 1091. In present article the author describes the main motivation behind this offensive led by two Hauteville brothers; Robert Guiscard and Roger. Subsequently the main stages of the conquest are depicted until the turning point which is represented by the siege of Palermo, the Sicilian capital city. |
