Description | In our study research, we examine student’ ideas on progress through a general education course on cosmology with a focus on active learning. The data collected include individual interviews. Teaching cosmology to students offers the perfect opportunity to introduce them to the explorative nature of the scientific approach and the evolution of scientific knowledge. We have prepared the new cosmology course designed for science teachers. This course attempts to provide to the students the most contemporary understanding of the state of the Universe. An additional purpose is to discuss and develop the subtle scientific reasoning. The lecture units can be adapted to different levels by increasing or decreasing the sophistication of the math and relativistic ideas that are presented. We so that it is appropriate for general first year physics courses. |
