| Description | Th is article analyses case law of the Court of Justice (CJEU) with particular interest in the European citizens‘ initiative (ECI) which allows EU citizens to participate directly in the development of EU policies, by calling on the European Commission to make a legislative proposal (judgments of the Tribunal T-646/13, T-450/12, T-44/14, T-529/13). It concludes that the ECI attracts considerable attention in the fi eld of environmental protection. However, many initiatives have been restricted from the race for votes in the early phase of registration and even those few successful have not attained their goal, i.e. a new legal regulation. |
