| Description | The main aim of this paper is to investigate English terminology used in formal semantics and to analyze potential problems related to the translation of particular terms to Polish, such as donkey anaphors, upward and downward-entailing contexts, positive and negative polarity items, free choice items etc. Two sources of the semantic terminology have been described, namely logical and philosophical terminology and generative grammar terminology. Previous strategies adopted in Polish literature have been discussed and several proper Polish terminological equivalents have been proposed. |
