Description | The contribution will focus on the trend of “religionization” in the part of extreme metal scene, especially in the European black metal. During last two decades it is possible to observe the rise in a serious interest in dark spiritualities of many black metal musicians. Some of them (such as bands Ofermod or Watain) also perceive black metal as a way of occult practice, and interpret their performance as rituals including channeling with “dark forces”. This occult turn also restores the countercultural approach of the part of black metal scene towards the secular society. The paper shows that this kind of “religionization” can be perceived as a new way of transgression in the field of extreme metal. The presentation was held in Czech due to the absence of foreign participants in the audience. |
