Description | The election of a woman to the Bohemian Assembly in 1912 is mentioned as one of the tops of the pre-war efforts of the women's movement. The opening of the political arena to women, however very diffident, debated and often condemned, was part of the manifestations of the fading away of traditional 19th-century thinking schemes, and foreshadowed at the symbolic level the transformation in modern society. The parameters of women's participation were dealt with in connection with the women's candidacy, among others, the Czech Catholic political milieu. The conference paper deals whether the election of a woman was considered as going against the vision of political Catholicism on the public activities of women. |
