Description | The premise for a successfully completed translation process is that the source text selected for translation should be understood correctly. Based on literature, theoretical knowledge was gained, which is partly applied to the presentation of the Czech resultative constructions as well as their German equivalents for recipients. Resultative constructions as an aspect-passive transition category represent an interpretation gap for translators, because German has two passive forms and two perfect forms, but Czech language acts differently. The article focuses on the different meanings of resultative constructions in connection with verbs, 'to be' and ' to have' in German and in Czech, based on the corpus-based evidence from the parallel corpus InterCorp. The potential of corpus linguistic methods is not only meant for translators, but also for others. This will be also discussed. |
