Description The Anabaptists physicians and barber-surgeons became despite their religious radicalism very popular amongst Moravian noble families. They were known for being diligent and erudite, in consequence of which many noblemen (and even the Emperor) searched for their services. In this paper, I focus primarily on the demands placed on the Anabaptist physicians, barber-surgeons and midwives by their own community, which are most obvious in the sets of rules drawn up for all the crafts and professions practised by this radical movement. These demands helped to understand the special position of the Anabaptist physicians and barber-surgeons both in the Anabaptist community and in the Moravian society.
