Description | The contribution presents results of the doctoral thesis dedicated to study the usage of polite linguistic strategies and their functions in European Spanish of the nineteenth century from pragmalinguistics perspective. The main purpose of this study is to offer a repertory of linguistic resources which characterize the formulation of polite speech acts- assertive, commissive, exhortative and expressive. For this objective we have analyzed texts written in the 19th century. The conclusion presents beside the panorama of verbal resources used for expressing the verbal politeness, the relation existing between acts that damages the face of the addressee and indirect verbal resources and, on the contrary, the relation between less threatening acts and more direct non mitigated verbal resources. |
