Description The author of the present study deals with the genre problems in Solzhenitsyn’s literary work. Due to the author’s views, the dynamism of genre constituting in Solzhenitsyn moves from lyric poems through narrative poems, lyric dramas and film scenarios towards short stories, novellas and novels. The specific genre structure of Solzhenitsyn’s work is caused by the traditional Russian unfinishedness, incompleteness, openness of everything, including literature. The author often finds himself on the boundary between journalistic and artistic genres. In this sense, Solzhenitsyn, like other great Russians, wants to break loose from the sphere of literariness and artistic poetics towards historicism. Solzhenitsyn develops the traditional Russian pre-post effect (the term is mine) consisting in the imperfect imitation of Western literary models and, at the same time, opening a side window leading to new poetics.
