| Description | The paper called “Theatre festival Setkání/Stretnutie in Zlín. History. Tradition. Current Trends” addresses the genesis of a Zlín-based non-competitive theatre festival from 1991 (when it was founded) until now. It contextualizes the festival among Moravian theatre festivals (e.g., Divadelní Flora v Olomouci) and compares it with the dramaturgical focus of other Czech festivals dealing with the relationship between Czechs and Slovaks (e.g., Slovenské divadlo v Praze). The text also investigates important guest performances by international theatre groups and artistic figures connected with the festival. Marginally, I describe the art college students’ participation and their role in the course of the festival. A part of this paper is also a professional critical reflection of the festival and its changeability throughout the years. |
