Description | This paper is focused on impact of adoption of the new Civil Code on legal consciousness of the Czech population. Paper first gives a brief overview of the recent understanding of legal consciousness as a projection of the legal issues to consciousness of social actors. It will then go on to possibilities and limits of the empirical investigation of the issue. The third part is concerned with the methodology used for this study including semi-structured interviewing. The fourth part presents the preliminary findings of the ongoing research. Finally, areas for further research are identified. The central question in this paper asks if and how adoption of the new Civil Code influenced legal consciousness in the Czech Republic. The main emphasis will be laid on results of qualitative research of legal consciousness regarding to the new Civil Code. The study offers some important insights into the issue of the Czech legal consciousness. |
