Description | Lectins are proteins that reversibly interact with sugars. They role range from glycoprotein folding, through cell maturation to host-pathogen recognition. To describe a lectin we apply a broad range of biophysical techniques. In addition to analysis of its affinity and specificity, we also determine lectin structures and combine our findings with in silico modelling. Our results may find application in basic research, medicine as well as biotechnologies. |
