Description | The paper deals with the Extraordinary People's Court in Brno, which began its activities on 8 June 1945. It became the first of 24 courts of this type. His activities consisted of punishing Nazi criminals, traitors and their helpers. The extraordinary People's Court in Brno is an interesting case, because the first sentences and death sentences fell on the first day, i.e. on 8 June 1945, on the basis of the original London decree. This was mainly due to the situation that took place in Brno immediately after the end of World War II - the city was heavily damaged by allied air raids, liberation struggles and especially the situation in the city was tense, especially among the workers of the arms factory. Leopold Potschka, a German from Brno, became the first convicted of a total of three thousand people. During its existence, 83 people were sentenced to death by the Extraordinary People's Court in Brno. |
