Description | The production of food within cities through urban agriculture can be considered as nature-based solution contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation, food security, biodiversity, ecosystem services and social resilience. Analysis of large-scale representative survey results shows that while food production in cities is less frequent than in rural areas, the level of self-sufficiency is similar in urban and rural households. The paper presents data about the scale of urban food production, and its contribution to ecosystem services and resilience. |
