Description | The article analyses statements of competition authorities that have touched the topic of digital platforms. The reports bring a valuable insight and include many interesting recommendations. The common outcome of the reports is that the digital platforms are indeed innovative and novel, but do not require the European competition law to be fundamentally changed. Competition law is widely flexible and adaptable and currently even substitutes certain sector regulations. However, in order to preserve balanced playing field, certain modifications, particularly in the merger area, are enhanced. Moreover, technology regulations regarding especially data portability and interoperability are needed. |
