Description | Modřice village was affected by the change in the settlement structure at the turn of 13th century. The archaeologically documented settlement was founded near the stone Romanesque church (about 1200) in the first quarter of the 13th century with a share of German speaking people probably from Lower Austria. The wooden houses probably prevailed at the end of Middle age even though first brick houses also appeared. The southern part of the market surrounded a moat from the late Middle age which was filled in only during the Thirty-Years-War. |
