Description | Prolegomena to the collective monograph about the places of memory of Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno (1624-1695) consider the question of whose and what monument works of art us preserve? In the Baroque period, in the "places of the bishop's memory" one can find efforts to represent the Olomouc diocese on the one hand and an effort to evoke the bishop's memory on the other. The ideas of the bishop's contemporary, Prince Karl Eusebius of Liechtenstein, are a possible key to understanding the bishop's activities. Prince tells about architecture as a means of living and visual history and the relationship between the memory of the invisible (personal deeds) and the visible (realized works of art). |
