Description | Convulsions are defined as uncoordinated, involuntary muscle contractions. The accumulation of convulsive activity must be considered a life-threatening condition where the primary therapeutic goal is to terminate convulsive activity as soon as possible (pharmacologically). Convulsions are a manifestation of a pathological condition, and therefore it is necessary to look for the etiology of convulsions. According to literature data, the incidence and prevalence of at least one episode of seizures during life reaches 5–10% in the population, of which the highest incidence is in early childhood and late adulthood. |
