Description | The study deals with the course and consequences of the so-called Clearance Action (Action VK) of Closter Libraries after the abolition of monasteries in 1950. It identifies the main actors (authorities, persons) and describes the decision-making process. It points to the often different application of administrative decisions in practice. It provides basic statistical data on cleared libraries. It deciphers the ideological inspiration of communist propaganda of the Action of Clearance of Closter Libraries, related to the abolition of monasteries during the Josephine period. Comments on the current care of monastic libraries and on the contemporary concept of presentation of their destinies in the 1950s are included. |
