Description Over the past year, the European Union and its Member States have faced a fight against COVID-19. However, the pandemic has primarily affected the lives of EU citizens and their families. Many families were separated at the pandemic's beginning due to the various national measures taken. Taking into consideration that migration within the EU has been restricted. Migration into the EU has been restricted even more severely. Thus, last year there were only a few possibilities for third-country nationals to cross the external border of the Union. This paper, therefore, primarily focuses on the measures taken by the European Union and the Czech Republic to counter the spread of COVID-19. The main focus will be on the status of family members of European Union citizens. At the same time, the author will also focus on a comparison with the status of third-country nationals. The author will also attempt to provide a retrospective view of how the Czech Republic has complied with its obligations under EU law concerning the groups mentioned above. Finally, the author concludes with a reflection on possible future developments.
