| Description | The aim of the paper was to outline the characteristics and historical origins of potatoes, to describe the linguistic development of individual names from Old Czech to the present, to explain the etymological interpretation of Czech names, their dialectal and folk forms and to describe at least briefly with the help of examples of old Czech recipes the ways of using potatoes especially in Old Czech and folk cuisine. The enclosed dialect map from the Czech Language Atlas served to complete the knowledge in the field of dialectology. |
