Description | After centuries of stable farming on agricultural land, there have been the fundamental alterations with the major negative impacts on the soil condition over the last 50–100 years. In recent decades, the negative effects have been exacerbated by agricultural subsidy systems. In this setting, the soil is not considered to be a natural resource, but a means of production. This creates the conditions for uncontrollable land devastation – agricultural corporations and externalities are the ones pocketing profits from agricultural production – environmental impacts are at the expense of society. For instance, of the total € 59 billion of EU subsidies per year, merely the amount of € 8 billion is intended for ecology and biodiversity support. One of the instruments for the better management of agricultural land is the implementation of paedological surveys. The basic standard paedological surveys in the Czech Republic are as follows: • Methodology of Soil Survey of Agricultural Land Intended for Lease Agreements, • Methodology of Mapping and Updating of Certified Soil Ecological Units (Decree No. 227/2018 Coll.), • Paedological Survey as an Appendix to the Application for Consent to the Withdrawal of Land from the Agricultural Land Fund (Act No. 334/1992 Coll., as amended). |
