| Description | Education of a warfarin patient by a pharmacist is very important; it does not consist only in the selection of a suitable over-the-counter drug or food supplement, the identification of possible drug interactions, but also in alerting the patient to possible manifestations of side effects or informing in dietary and regime measures. A questionnaire survey among pharmacists was carried out to determine the availability of educational materials in the pharmacy, how to deal with patient queries, the level of knowledge of respondents in the issue of warfarin interactions, knowledge regarding the occurrence of side effects and complications, and the procedure for dealing with a forgotten dose of the drug. The survey confirmed the sometimes insufficient knowledge of pharmacists, especially in the choice of appropriate analgesics and the correct procedure if a patient forgets to take a daily dose of warfarin. Excellent knowledge of pharmacists in the health complications of warfarin was demonstrated. |
