Description In his native Slovakia, Martin Vongrej's creative strategies are viewed as a distinctive continuation of the local characteristics of conceptual art of the second half of the 20th century. His ability to draw on a precisely thought-out programme that rises from the human subject to cosmic heights (and from there – pulled by gravity, enriched and expanded - descends again to the human level) places him alongside the most remarkable artistic concepts his predecessors have left us. In his approach, a work of art stands between the human senses and the world around them, visualizing the principles (both physical and spiritual) present in them while stimulating their thinking and experiencing. The new paintings that form the core of the exhibition at the Fait Gallery are among the most subtle that Vongrej has created. The geometries of colour points placed in spaces between parallel or intersecting lines make up constellations, they are separated from each other and at the same time cluster into groups. The perception of these connections is intrinsically linked to the process of unconscious decision-making. Between seeing and thinking, a "quantization game" is played; one cannot simultaneously measure their position and movement but only arrive at one qualitatively different result at any given moment.
