Description | The presented paper aimed to reflect on the relationship between myth and fantasy literature and on the possibilities of exploring this genre from the perspective of religious studies. The theoretical introduction was devoted to outlining this relationship, mentioning the similarities and differences and grasping the pitfalls of applying various religious theories to a purely literary text. In the second part of the article, there was a specific analysis of selected works of Czech fantasy using Campbell's initial journey of the hero. The resulting graphs of the representatives of the subgenre of sicence fantasy, urban fantasy and noble fantasy were compared and the hypothesis was confirmed that some subgenres of fantasy are closer to the myth than others. |
