| Description | The amplitude of contraction and the restitution of contractility were compared under control conditions (1.2 mM extracellular Ca2+ concentration, 0.2 Hz stimulation rate), after partial Ca2+ channel blockade by Verapamil (in concentration 10-6M), at decreased Ca2+concentration in the medium (0.6 mM) and in the presence of beta-receptor inhibitor Metoprolol (in concentration 10-4 M). In all three situations the amplitude of contraction decreased to 60% of control and the mechanical restitution was proportionaly reduced in all its course. It seems that Metoprolol - even in absence of catecholamines - decreases intracellular Ca2+ concentration. |
