| Description | The conference paper introduces czech street names (urbanonyms), which are formed from exonyms (Pařížská from Paříž, the Czech exonym for the French city Paris). Attention is paid to their formal side and especially to their motivation: the oldest names had a directional function, in more recent times the dedicatory (honorific) function predominates. Unlike honorific names derived from personal names, street names formed from exonyms are more stable and are not subject to changes so often. |
