Description The Academic Psychodiagnostic Centre of Masaryk University carries out psychological examinations of secondary school students for the purposes of a special committee deciding about granting scholarships. The goal of the examination was defined by the assigner, the South Moravian Centre for International Mobility. If a psychological examination of a sample of secondary school students who have been successful in some of the knowledge olympics or secondary school research projects has a goal of identifying those who can achieve above average accomplishment under optimal circumstances in their selected field of study at the university and subsequently in their occupation, a complete psychological examination using anamnesis and exploratory approach is necessary. We are basing our approach on the so-called Munich Dynamic Ability-Achievement Model which was described and verified in the course of 20 years by Kurt A. Heller and his colleagues. 30 High (above-average) talent is understood as disposition for above-average achievements, not the achievement itself. The term exceptional talent does not refer only to intelligence. Around 90 % of examined applicants make use of the chance to get acquainted with the results. Some open questions remain, however, such as the criteria of success in further studies, therefore we will be monitoring the success of those students included in the scholarship programme on a long-term basis. It is also necessary to consider, to what extent can negative character features of the applicants mean a contraindication for granting financial support.
