Description | In this chapter, Neumanová presents the findings of her pilot study focusing on grammatical errors in the speech of university learners of English as error analysis seems to represent an under-researched area in the Czech Republic. The data used in her pilot study consists of a total of 7,460 words produced by five EFL learners during 15-minute interviews in October 2019. Each interview was transcribed and manually annotated by a native speaker of British English, and errors were sorted into categories and analysed. Neumanová places particular emphasis on the type of learner corpus data investigated within the corpus study and the methods used to analyse them. She discusses the outcomes of her pilot study in the light of the underlying methodological and theoretical assumptions and concludes with some proposals for future research in the field. |
