Description | This talk aims to apply a cross-cultural look at the text-image relationship in Arthurian codices to three orders of problems: 1. Describing how an iconographic tradition is constructed - Following the junctures of a novel's tradition over a long period and taking into consideration the totality of illustrated witnesses 2. Assessing the actual potential for innovation and irradiation of specific centers - Verifying how much part, in the junctures of the tradition, is to be attributed to what appear to be points of convergence between new forms of circulation of novels, the elaboration of novel page layouts, and the emergence of new categories of audiences 3. Trying to compare the characteristics of texts and those of iconographic cycles. - See if certain textual families correspond to specificities on the level of illustration. |
