| Description | The paper deals with the issue of folk songs that were recorded in the territory of today's Czech Republic roughly from the early 19th century to the 1970s. It shows how the lyrics were handled in the past, when they did not correspond to social conventions, aesthetics, ethics ideals and patriotic goals of his time. Song notations were often edited by collectors, with some parts omitted, others changed. This question is currently open even in the present. Although many folk songs are not controversial, many others are. It is one of the parts of the tradition social memory, which is associated with cultural stereotypes - i.e. with generally established ideas, that people have about themselves and members of different groups. These "Others" are usually members of a different ethnicity, religion or social class. Their image in folklore it is based on certain contemporary ideas, ideological views, evaluative attitudes and historical experiences. On the example of otherness, which in Czech folk songs is mainly associated with negative image of members of the Jewish minority, the post shows possible results misunderstanding of the historical context: anti-Semitic motifs of some older songs and so on dances presented in public may not be obvious to those who practice them today. |
