Description | More than twenty years ago, strokes (strokes) were considered an incurable disease. In recent years, mainly due to the development of recanalization therapy and prevention strategies, there has been a significant shift in the outcomes of care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. Ischaemic strokes (iCMP) account for 88% of all strokes, with haemorrhagic strokes accounting for the remaining 12%. In the Czech Republic, the incidence of iCMP is currently 211 cases per 100 000 population per year and the prevalence is estimated at 240 000 cases. The main aim of this clinical guideline is to provide recommendations for the care of adult patients with iCMP and transient ischaemic attack (TIA) based on the best available evidence. The guideline answers the clinical question of which interventions improve outcomes of care for patients after iCMP or TIA of non-cardioembolic etiology.
