| Description | On May 1, 2021, Act No. 34/2021 Coll., on screening of foreign investments, introducing a regime for screening of foreign investments in entities or assets located in the Czech Republic entered into force. The legislator aims to eliminate security risks arising from an excessively open economy and to adapt the legal system of the Czech Republic to EU Regulation 2019/452 establishing a framework for the screening of foreign direct investments into the Union. The authors set themselves a challenging task - to prepare a commentary on this Act in a situation where there were practically no detailed instructions for its application and when the decision-making practice is not publicly available due to security reasons. Hence, the author's collective is composed of members with different experiences and expertise to cover the most important aspects of the Act from multiple perspectives. |
