| Description | Since 2014, dozens of artists and theoreticians from all over the Czech Republic of different ages and experiences have responded to the open call VýTěr (Artist + Theorist Wipe the World Clean). They are always introduced to each other at the opening salon, whereupon they choose the other to pair up according to their artistic aspirations and curatorial ambitions. In a public act of matching, they commit to a mutual collaboration that results in an exhibition at the OFF/FORMAT gallery, but often the partnerships are of a longer duration. The aim of the challenge is not only the artistic presentations themselves, but above all what happens before, during and after them. That is, the collaboration itself, the ongoing dialogues, the exchange of experiences, the mutual support, the recognition of various positions and practices… The whole event has a natural educational potential and brings together those who should be close to each other but do not always easily find their way to each other. The founders of the socially beneficial event VýTěr, working at the Department of Art Education of the Faculty of Arts of MU and the OFF/FORMAT gallery, report on its development. |
