| Description | Why am I a work of art?" According to Arthur C. Dant, in the 1960s, modernism and with it the history of art as we (still) understand it ends with this question. The central theme to which Danto returns cyclically in a set of his eleven lectures, most of which he gave in early 1995 at the National Gallery in Washington, is the much-discussed end of art, which he never actually wrote about, as he constantly emphasizes, although the eponymous he published the text in 1984 in the anthology (in addition with the somewhat unfortunate title) Death of Art. His explanation is now, twenty-five years after the first edition, also available in a Czech translation called After the End of Art. Contemporary art and the area outside of history, which the esthetician Šárka Lojdová took on with her own precision. |
