Description | In my speech, I focused on the possibilities and "offer" of devotional practice for visitors to Capuchin monasteries in the Czech lands during the Baroque period. I examined three selected examples, each of which attracted pilgrims and faithful visitors in different ways and provided them with opportunities to enrich their devotional life - Opočno, Chrudim a Rumburk. Through these three examples, I demonstrated by comparison the possibilities that devout persons had in caring for their salvation, how Capuchin monasteries increased their attractiveness to these visitors, and how these efforts were reflected in the resulting works of art. Despite the fact that today none of the monasteries serve their original purpose, thanks to the preserved artworks and written sources, we can try to look at the contemporary piety in their heyday. |
