Description | In his contribution, the author presents, with the help of three historical examples, the possibilities of how to verbally characterize the task solved in a work of art. He used these examples earlier in his pedagogical and research work, when he tried to describe a specific artistic task through a certain metaphorical password-like designation. (a) Palazzetto Romano: Raphael of Urbino. The term "palazzetto romano", which can be associated with Raphael's creative circle, can indicate to us a newly given artistic role, related to modern interventions in the transforming Roman urbanism. (b) Various Social Salon Functions: Germain Boffrand. The French architect published a book in 1745 containing his reflections on good taste along with his most significant projects. The key concept for him was the newly defined theoretical term "convenience", which we can observe on the example of a salon in palace interiors. The Latin terms used by Boffrand ("aula, oecus, atrium") indicate that he always wants to show the distinctive character of an artistic task. (c) Characteristics of the artistic task and metaphor. We can connect the characteristics of a certain artistic task with the art form, the client and his social environment through a metaphorical comparison. This is how the author conceived his older interpretation of the "three castles in Slavkov". Their different characteristics could invite the viewer or reader to their own understanding of the relationship between the art form and the concepts of task - artistic role - function. |
