Description | Based on a linguistic examination of the writings of Zen master Dogen, the paper provides a portrayal of the master’s unique use of language that lies at the basis of his philosophy. By analysing a chapter of the Treasury of the True Dharma Eye, the essay “Being-Time” or “The Being of Time”, “Uji”, this article examines several of Dogen’s approaches to the structural difference between Classical Chinese and Japanese in the process of transmitting the Zen tradition from the mainland to Japan. |
