Description | The paper presents an analysis of the development of the subject of history in schools corresponding to today's primary school in the territory of our country in the years 1918-1948. It describes the changes made after the establishment of the independent state, when the existing "monarchist" history was modified to fit the ideas of the newly established republic. Some reform considerations and steps, such as the establishment of an "active" school, are briefly outlined. The loss of the Czechoslovak borderlands in the autumn of 1938 and, in particular, the occupation of the rest of the territory of our state and the proclamation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939 brought about a fundamental turning point for school history. In the following period, history was misused for the needs of the German occupation power. As there was no acceptance of Nazi ideas by Czech teachers, the teaching of history was stopped during the war. After the end of the war, the distortions caused in our education and history in the previous period were corrected. History found itself at a crossroads, however, when the strengthened position of leftist ideas and the Soviet Union was already evident. Then 1948, when the Communist Party came to power for more than 40 years, brought a completely fundamental break, and there was another quite fundamental deformation of the subject under study. |
