| Description | Theatricality is a term used to denote a set of properties related to theatrical art, also used in non-theatrical situations. It is characterized by expressive actions, gestures, facial expressions, costuming and scenography. So we can then think about everyday life and its events as a theatrical performance. But what is it good for? The aim of the theoretical part of the workshop will be to familiarize with the concept of theatricality of everyday life and public space and, on the basis of well-known examples, to explain how the processes around us can be better understood through their similarity to theatre. We will imagine how costuming, acting or scene preparation help the way we are perceived by others, and how our perception of reality is influenced by social roles - which we play ourselves, but also the people around us. Together, we will show how theater can be a tool for learning about the contemporary world. |
