Description | The exhibition presents two artists of different generations, united by a tissue of fibers and a sensitivity to observe their immediate surroundings. Věra Boudníková Špánová (1946-2012) and artist Lucie Rosická (1998) refer to physicality, softness and the absorption of memories and everyday rituals through their choice of soft materials. Although the work of both artists responded to different socio-cultural conditions, we can see in it a common search for a relationship between ourselves and the environment that surrounds us and the pressures to which our bodies are subject. While the South Bohemian artist in the 1980s found her starting point in her relationship to the earth, her Nature (1983) took on an almost meditative character. Lucie Rosicka's large-scale works, embroidered on fabric, are a response to a hard-to-grasp opaque world in which relationships and interactions often take place in the immaterial form of internet connections. The exhibition was created as part of the Open Studio Days in South Bohemia. It also opens a series of artistic dialogues/exhibitions by women artists of different generations, working in the region and beyond. |
