Description | Originally independent municipalities near Brno became part of the "big" city after the establishment of the republic in 1919, others in the 1960s - 1980s. In some parts of the city, the appearance of the original folk clothing was preserved until the 20th century, it is documented in sources and rare parts are also in museum collections. In some districts, however, the German population prevailed, after whose departure in the second half of the 1940s, no tangible or visual evidence remained. In addition, during the 20th century, Brno grew with new housing estates without any continuity. Nevertheless, even in these parts of the city, after 1990, they decided to introduce folk festivals. Costumes from Kyjov were mostly worn for these occasions, but in the last decade efforts to restore the "original" costumes have been increasing. |
