Description | Social theorising is often practised to support sociological researchers in clarifying and inventing concepts and questions. The phenomenological sensitivity to an embodiment, to tacit dimensions of knowing and pre-propositional backgrounds, however, also offers a way to reflect the embodied, affective and experiential understandings inherent to the research process. Grounding social theorising and research in the lived experiences of the lifeworld would not simply convey intellectual provocation. However, it could initiate a process of getting in touch with an understanding of meaning as embodied and performative. Alternatively, to the predominant practice of theorising from nowhere, the texture of embodied understanding can disclose how meaning and vulnerability become entangled within situated experiences. I will address the intertwining of phenomenology and feminist epistemology, as allowed to fuse the emphasis on the lived body with situated knowledge. |
