| Description | The chapter reflects what happens in the psyche of children when one of the parents is in prison. I present foreign studies that provide evidence that the imprisonment of parents leads to the traumatization of their children. I present the concept of trauma according to contemporary psychotraumatology. The chapter deals with research findings and their interpretation, especially in relation to children's dissociations, which are one of the main symptoms of trauma. It also reflects important psychotherapeutic approaches dealing with work with children after trauma (these approaches are: approaches focused on working with resources and the Somatic Experience approach). |
