Description | Full-day topical workshop for and with the Institute for Masculinity Research and Gender Studies (Institut für Männer- und Geschlechterforschung) team, Graz. Overview of topical research studies of the instructor (in the areas of gender relations, CSMM – Critical Studies on Men and Masculinities, researching and working on M&M) – with focus on intersectionality and intersections of power and care relations; Discussion of selected topical research studies based on vignettes (visualisation, pictures, short examples): crises of men – the unbearable burden of power, nurturing fathers, environmentally sustainable masculinities, underachieving/failing boys at school, gender and systemic violence in court decisions on rape, chief physicians in maternity hospital wards, researching (not only perinatal) loss, institutions of ageing men; Discussion on working with men I: focus on intersectionality (gender, age, status etc.) in men´s lives as encountered in our/participants´ topical work, projects, research, training, and practice. Ways forward?; Discussion on working with men II: focus on intersections of power and care relations in men´s lives; Wrapping up discussion - challenges and questions arising, reflections on discussed topics, on own work and experience: how to do CSMM in practice? |
